As a pediatric chiropractor serving families across the Twin Cities (we see lots of families from St. Paul, Minneapolis, Eagan, Woodbury, Roseville, Mendota Heights, and Inver Grove Heights) one of the most meaningful things I get to do is show up in our communities and talk with parents who are searching for real answers about their child’s struggles.
Last week, I had the privilege of presenting at Apple Valley Community Education as part of our “From Frustration to Focus: Helping Your Child with ADHD Succeed” workshop. The turnout was incredible, and the conversations afterward reminded me exactly why this work matters.
If you missed it, we have another free session coming up — Thursday, April 30th at 6:30 PM at LearningRx Eagan (2874 Highway 55, Eagan, MN 55121). You can reserve your free seat at adhdworkshopmn.com.
What We Covered at the Apple Valley Workshop
The parents who attended last week came in all different situations — some had children with a formal ADHD diagnosis, others didn’t yet have one but suspected it was likely if their child was tested. What nearly everyone had in common was that they had already been searching and trying different things, and many arrived with an even longer list of options they were considering. By the end of the evening, the feedback we heard most was that they finally felt like they could understand their child more clearly — and that clarity made it much easier to know what next step actually made sense for their family.
One of the biggest areas of connection came when I walked through how sensory processing plays a role in ADHD behaviors. As I shared examples around visual, auditory, and tactile processing, there were a lot of “aha” moments in the room. Parents started recognizing patterns in their own children they hadn’t had language for before — and realizing there was a deeper layer to what their child was experiencing beyond the ADHD label itself.
This particular audience had many parents whose children struggled primarily with the inattentive side of ADHD — the kids who seem to be somewhere else, who lose things, who can’t seem to get organized no matter how many systems you try. What really seemed to click for this group was when I explained that organization in the body is what makes organization in the brain possible. I shared the example of a mom whose daughter had always been noticeably clumsy and also remarkably forgetful — she lost her brand new house keys within a week of getting them. When we looked at what was going on beneath the surface, it pointed directly to how her daughter’s nervous system was processing two of our internal body senses: proprioception and vestibular input. For many parents in the room, that connection was a genuine turning point.
Why ADHD Is More Than a Label
One of the core things I talk about in this workshop — and in my practice every day — is that ADHD behavior can come from many different underlying causes. Every child is unique, and what looks like defiance, distraction, or difficulty focusing is often the nervous system telling us something important.
Some children are labeled ADHD when the real contributors include how their brain processes information, how their nervous system supports focus and self-regulation, sensory differences, or patterns in physical development that haven’t been addressed. Understanding why your child struggles — not just that they struggle — changes everything.
As a neurologically based pediatric chiropractor, my goal is to help shift the nervous system out of a chronic fight-flight-freeze state and into one that supports regulation, attention, and healthy development. I’ve seen this approach make a meaningful difference for kids across the south metro and Twin Cities for 18 years.
What Parents Often Tell Me
Parents who come to the workshop — and to our practice — often describe the same exhausting cycle: constant battles at home, repeating themselves all day, watching their child struggle in school while knowing how smart they truly are. They worry about their child’s confidence, their future, and whether they’re doing enough.
What I want every parent in St. Paul, Minneapolis, Eagan, Woodbury, Roseville, Mendota Heights, and Inver Grove Heights to know is this: it’s not that you’re failing your child. There is often something deeper going on — and it’s absolutely worth understanding.
Join Us April 30th — Free Workshop in Eagan
I’m co-presenting this workshop with Rich Frieder, owner of LearningRx, and together we bring over 30 years of combined experience in child learning and nervous system development. This is a 90-minute, purely educational event — no pressure, no pitch — just real information for parents who want to better understand their child.
You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what may be contributing to your child’s ADHD behaviors, the ability to interpret their behavior with more insight and less frustration, and confidence to explore next steps — whether that’s neurologically based chiropractic care, cognitive training, or simply a new conversation with their teachers and therapists.
Food and drinks are included. Spouses, partners, and friends are welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can chiropractic care help a child with ADHD? Neurologically based chiropractic care focuses on supporting the nervous system — which plays a central role in attention, self-regulation, and behavior. While chiropractic is not a treatment for ADHD as a diagnosis, many families notice meaningful improvements in their child’s ability to focus, regulate emotions, and handle daily transitions when their nervous system is better supported.
What is neurologically based chiropractic care for children? It’s an approach that looks at how stress patterns in the spine and nervous system may be affecting a child’s brain-body communication. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we look for underlying patterns that may be contributing to challenges with focus, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and behavior.
Is this workshop right for my child even without a formal ADHD diagnosis? Absolutely. This workshop is designed for parents of any child who struggles with attention, impulsivity, big emotions, or sensory sensitivities — diagnosed or not. Many of the underlying contributors we discuss apply to a wide range of children.
How is a pediatric chiropractor different from a general chiropractor? Pediatric chiropractors have specialized training in child development, the pediatric nervous system, and the unique needs of growing bodies. At Whole Family Chiropractic, every assessment and adjustment is tailored specifically to children — gentle, safe, and developmentally appropriate.
